MMHS vs. Mountain View

Our first match took place on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 as we traveled to Orem to take on the Mountain View Bruins. Our varsity team played fantastic and we came away with a 4-1 win.

PLEASE READ

We will be holding our first team practice on Monday, August 10th at 4pm sharp. Please bring any paperwork that you have not turned in. We must have all paperwork completed by Monday! We will begin working to get ready for our opening match against the Orem Tigers. Orem is ranked #1 in the state and will be a tough challenge for us.

We will be holding a mandatory PARENT MEETING at 5:30pm August 10th. This will begin after practice has concluded. We will meet at the tennis courts. Please make sure you have at least one parent in attendance. We will be presenting our team goals, season match schedule, practice schedule, conducting a parent vote on our St. George trip, talking about our fundraiser and answering any questions that you have about the season.

This year our fundraiser will be selling peaches. We will have a flyer for you on Monday. We have a local grower that is providing us with 1/2 bushels of peaches. We will be selling them for $15 each. These are fantastic tree ripened peaches. Go ahead and start these right away. We will be working next week on delivery times. Anyone purchasing should make their check out to Maple Mountain HS. We are asking each girl to set a goal of selling 10 boxes. We will use this money for uniforms, sweats, socks, etc.

MMHS 5K Fun Run

For those girls that make the tennis team, we will be participating in the first annual Golden Eagle 5K run. Here is some information on the event.

Time: August 15th @ 7:30 am
Where: Maple Mountain HS. Starting next to the tennis courts
Who: All fall athletic teams and clubs. (football - volleyball - soccer - tennis - cheer - drill - band - cross country)

A trophy will also be given to the winning “group”. The cross country team will be placing 2 members with our team to help even out the teams.

I encourage all of you to start your training now if you have not all ready. For those that are attending our open court sessions we are doing some running after the tennis workout.

A 5K run is about 3.125 miles. That is approximately 12 times around the track!

Open Court Practices

We have changed the times for our Open Court sessions. We are going to start earlier on Wednesday evenings and a little later on Saturday mornings. We have found that some girls have commitments on Wednesday evenings at 7 and the wind is still strong until 10am. So, here is the revised schedule:

Hi ladies,
We are now coming down the home stretch of summer with less than 30 days until our tennis season begins at Maple Mountain high school. I hope all of you have been having a great summer and playing a lot of tennis. I know that many of you have been working hard because I have seen you on the courts and playing in some of the tournaments.

I wanted to remind all of you about a couple of events coming up over the next 2 weeks.

• Our first Open Court session will begin this Wednesday night at 6PM at the MMHS courts. For a complete schedule go here
  
• The Fiesta Days tennis tournament will begin on Monday July 13th at the Spanish Fork city courts. Registration closed last week but if you still want in you can contact Spanish Fork city and see if you can enter.
  
• We have been invited to participate with the Cross Country team in a 5K race coming up on August 15th Start preparing now by getting our and doing some running. This is equal to about 3.125 miles. This is about 13 times around the track!

Maple Mountain Open begins on Wednesday, June 24th

Our first matches will begin on Wednesday, June 24th @ 9:00am. We are looking forward to some great tennis and a lot of fun for all those participating. The tournament will continue throughout the week with finals concluding on Saturday. Also on Saturday we will be hosting an exhibition match at 10:00am. We have a couple of professional ATP tour players coming to warm up our new courts. We look forward to seeing you there.

Announcing Coach Kamryn Rose

Hi,

I want to let all of you know that we are privileged to have Kamryn Rose join the team as our Assistant Tennis Coach at Maple Mountain. Coach Rose will be helping both the varsity and junior varsity this year. She brings a ton of tennis experience to our team. Coach Rose has recently been helping with the Mapleton junior high boys team who just won the District tournament.

Coach Rose continues to play USTA tennis and was recently able to bring home a National Title for her team. We look forward to leveraging her wealth of experience and having her help us achieve our goals.

Coach Rose will be helping us throughout the summer prepare for our upcoming season. If you see her on the court, introduce yourself and make her feel welcome.

Provo Summer Smash Starts on Monday

MMHS Girls Tennis Team Information

I realize that several of the girls were not able to attend the Open House on May 18th. Here is the information that was provided about our upcoming season:

1. Tryouts will begin on August 3, 2009 at 4:00pm at the MMHS tennis courts. Click Here for the complete information document including our region 8 schedule.

2. If you are going to tryout for the team, I will need to get some information from you today. Please send me an email with your Name, Phone (home and cell), E-mail address, the grade you will be in this fall. Also, please give me a short description of your tennis experience. 4. If you are interested in participating in our summer camps or getting some private/semi-private lessons, you can contact the Maple Mountain boys coach, Paul Whiting 801-623-1300. Coach Whiting will be directing our camps all summer long and will be helping our girls team prepare for the season.

Maple Mountain Open Tennis Tournament

Summer Tennis Tournament

We are holding the first annual Maple Mountain Open tennis tournament on June 24th-27th. I would like to encourage all girls who are planning to tryout for the team this fall to enter this tournament. The cost is $25 for one event and $10 for each additional event. For example if you enter the singles draw and you also want to play in the doubles draw the total for both will be $35. All entries will receive a t-shirt with prizes provided for the winning players. To register simply go to the Maple Mountain HS finance office and fill out a registration form and pay your entry fee. We are looking forward to 4 fun days of tennis.

MMHS Open House on Monday, May 18th

An open house for the public to come and see the new Maple Mountain High School in Spanish Fork will be held Monday, May 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. All new students and anyone interested are invited to attend. At the open house the following will be offered:

* Self-guided tours of the building and grounds.

* Entertainment will be provided by the cheerleaders, dance team and drill team.

* Information on sports, fine arts and academics.

* The PTSA will sell pizza and other snacks, including Cold Stone ice cream.

* The Booster club will be selling school gear such as t-shirts, hats, etc.

* School store items for sale

Maple Mountain High School is located at 51 N. 2550 East in Spanish Fork.

Welcome to the Maple Mountain High School Girls tennis blog. This site will be the home for information on what is happening with girls tennis at MMHS.
